Ingredients

  • 8-10 fresh mint leaves
  • 1-2 lime wedges freshly squeezed
  • 2 teaspoons sugar or a natural sweetener like honey or agave syrup
  • 2 oz white rum or coconut rum for a tropical touch
  • 2 oz coconut milk or coconut water for a lighter option
  • Ice cubes enough to fill your glass
  • Mint sprigs and lime wedges for garnish

Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker (or glass for muddling)
  • Muddler or back of a spoon (for muddling mint)
  • Strainer (for serving)
  • Glass (preferably highball or rocks glass)
  • Ice cubes

Method

  1. Muddle the mint and lime: In a cocktail shaker or glass, place the fresh mint leaves and lime wedges. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently press the mint and lime to release their juices and oils.
  2. Add sugar: Pour in the sugar (or your sweetener of choice) and mix it with the muddled mint and lime. Adjust the sweetness according to your taste.
  3. Add rum and coconut milk: Pour in the white rum (or coconut rum for a twist) and coconut milk to the shaker.
  4. Add ice: Fill the shaker with ice cubes, and shake the mixture vigorously for 10-15 seconds to combine and chill everything.
  5. Strain and serve: Strain the mixture into a glass filled with fresh ice cubes.
  6. Garnish: Add a sprig of mint and a wedge of lime to garnish your drink.
  7. Enjoy!: Sip and enjoy your tropical Mojito Coconut!

Notes

  • Virgin Option: For a non-alcoholic version, simply leave out the rum and use extra coconut water or coconut milk for a refreshing mocktail.
  • Adjusting Sweetness: If you prefer a sweeter drink, feel free to add more sugar or use a natural sweetener like agave or stevia. Always taste as you go!
  • Coconut Water Substitute: If you prefer a lighter, less creamy drink, you can substitute the coconut milk with coconut water, which will also add a refreshing hydration element to the cocktail.
  • Frozen Version: For a frosty treat, blend the ingredients with ice to create a frozen Mojito Coconut that’s perfect for summer.
  • Flavor Variations: Try adding tropical fruits like pineapple or mango for an extra fruity kick, or experiment with flavored rums like coconut rum for more depth.
