Prepare the Potatoes: Peel the potatoes and cut them into evenly sized cubes for even cooking.
Boil: Place the potatoes in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Add a pinch of salt and bring to a boil. Cook for 12–15 minutes, or until fork-tender.
Drain: Drain the potatoes well and return them to the hot pan. Let them sit for 1 minute to release excess moisture.
Mash: Add butter to the hot potatoes and mash until mostly smooth.
Add Milk and Seasoning: Gradually add the warm milk while mashing until you reach your desired consistency. Season with salt and pepper.
