Ingredients

  • For the Pizza Base:
  • 1 pizza dough store-bought or homemade
  • 1 cup tomato pizza sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Optional toppings: pepperoni chicken, mushrooms, onions, jalapeños
  • For Hot Honey:
  • ½ cup honey
  • 1 –2 tsp chili flakes
  • 1 tsp hot sauce optional
  • Pinch of salt

Equipment

  • Oven
  • Baking tray or pizza stone
  • Rolling pin (if using homemade dough)
  • Mixing bowl (for hot honey)
  • Small saucepan (optional for warming honey)
  • Pizza cutter or sharp knife
  • Spoon or brush for sauce

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 220°C (425°F).
  2. Roll out the pizza dough into your preferred shape and place it on a baking tray or pizza stone.
  3. Brush lightly with olive oil for extra crispness.
  4. Spread tomato sauce evenly over the base.
  5. Add mozzarella cheese and your chosen toppings.
  6. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.
  7. While the pizza bakes, gently warm the honey in a small pan (do not boil).
  8. Add chili flakes, salt, and optional hot sauce to the honey and mix well. Let it infuse for 5–10 minutes.
  9. Once the pizza is out of the oven, immediately drizzle hot honey over the top.
  10. Slice and serve hot.

Notes

  • Always add hot honey after baking to preserve flavor and aroma.
  • Adjust chili flakes based on your spice tolerance.
  • For a smoky flavor, add smoked paprika to the honey mixture.
  • Raw or organic honey gives the best taste and nutritional value.
  • Let the pizza rest for 1–2 minutes before slicing to avoid cheese sliding.
  • You can store leftover hot honey in a sealed jar for up to 2–3 weeks.
