  • 1 cup fresh or frozen Aronia berries
  • 1 cup cold water or apple juice for natural sweetness
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup optional
  • Juice of ½ lemon
  • Ice cubes for serving

Equipment

  • Blender or food processor
  • Fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth (optional)

  • Glass jar or jug for storage

Method

  1. Rinse the berries: Wash the Aronia berries thoroughly under cool water.
  2. Blend: Place the berries, water (or apple juice), honey, and lemon juice into a blender.
  3. Process: Blend on high speed until smooth.
  4. Strain (optional): For a smoother texture, pour the mixture through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a jug.
  5. Chill and serve: Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, then pour over ice and enjoy your fresh, tangy Aronia berry juice.

Notes

  • To make a smoothie, replace the water with milk or yoghurt and add a banana.
  • Frozen berries work just as well as fresh; thaw slightly before blending.
  • Store leftovers in a sealed glass jar in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Adjust sweetness to taste — Aronia berries are naturally tart.
  • You can also use this juice base to make mocktails, popsicles, or salad dressings.
