Ingredients

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1 cup of your favorite brewed tea green tea, black tea, herbal tea, etc.
  • 1 tablespoon of honey or agave syrup optional for sweetness
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract optional
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice optional for a citrusy kick
  • Ice cubes if making an iced version

Equipment

  • Teapot or kettle for brewing tea
  • Blender (optional, for smooth texture)
  • Spoon or fork (for mashing the avocado, if no blender is available)
  • Measuring spoons
  • Glass or cup

Method

  1. Brew the Tea: Start by brewing your tea of choice. If using black or green tea, steep it for about 3-5 minutes. For herbal tea, follow the instructions on the package.
  2. Prepare the Avocado: While the tea is brewing, cut the avocado in half and remove the pit. Scoop the flesh into a blender.
  3. Blend the Ingredients: Add the brewed tea, honey (or other sweeteners), vanilla extract, and lemon juice to the blender with the avocado. Blend until smooth and creamy. If you don’t have a blender, mash the avocado with a fork, then slowly add the tea and stir until well-combined.
  4. Serve: For a chilled version, add ice cubes to a glass and pour the avocado tea mixture over the ice. For a warm version, serve directly after blending.

Notes

  • Tea Variations: Feel free to experiment with different tea types—green tea, black tea, or herbal blends like chamomile or mint work wonderfully with avocado.
  • Sweetness: Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less honey or agave. You can also try alternative sweeteners like maple syrup or stevia.
  • Flavor Additions: For extra flavor, add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg. A few fresh mint leaves can also be blended in for a refreshing twist.
  • Consistency: If you prefer a thicker texture, use less tea, or blend in a small amount of yogurt for added creaminess.
