  • 1 cup unsalted butter room temperature
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • Optional: nuts dried fruits, or flavorings like cinnamon

Method
 

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking trays with parchment paper.
  2. Cream Butter and Sugars: Beat butter with granulated and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add Eggs and Vanilla: Mix in eggs, one at a time, then vanilla extract.
  4. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Mix Together: Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and fold gently.
  6. Add Chocolate Chips: Fold in chocolate chips (and optional nuts or fruits).
  7. Shape Cookies: Use a cookie scoop or spoon to portion dough onto baking tray, leaving space between cookies.
  8. Bake: Bake 10–12 minutes until edges are golden but centers remain soft.
  9. Cool: Let cookies cool on the tray for 5 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack.

Notes

  • For chewy cookies, use more brown sugar and slightly underbake.
  • For crispy cookies, bake slightly longer and flatten dough before baking.
  • Cookie dough can be chilled for 30 minutes to prevent spreading.
