Ingredients

  • Macramé cord 3mm thick, 15 feet long
  • Beads optional, for added decoration
  • Hot glue gun optional, for securing the top

Equipment

  • Scissors
  • Tape measure or ruler
  • Wooden dowel or branch (12 inches long)
  • Comb (for fraying the yarn)

Method

  1. Prepare the Cord: Cut 12 pieces of macramé cord, each 3 feet long.
  2. Attach to Dowel: Fold each cord in half and attach it to the wooden dowel using the lark's head knot. Make sure the loops are even.
  3. Begin Knotting: Start with square knots: take the four cords in each section, create a loop with the outer cords, and knot the inner cords. Continue this pattern for the length you want.
  4. Fringe and Finish: Once the knots are complete, use the comb to gently fray the bottom of the cords. Trim the fringe to your desired length.
  5. Optional Decoration: Add beads between knots for a decorative touch or use a hot glue gun to secure the ends.

Notes

  • This project can be customized with different colors and cord types.
  • You can add more intricate knots as you gain confidence with the basic technique.
  • The wall hanging can be made larger or smaller by adjusting the length of the cords or the dowel.
