Ingredients

  • 1 pound of fresh strawberries preferably organic
  • 8 ounces of semi-sweet chocolate or milk/white chocolate, depending on preference
  • Toppings of your choice:
  • Crushed nuts e.g., almonds, pistachios
  • Sprinkles
  • Shredded coconut
  • Crushed cookies
  • Sea salt optional for a sweet-salty twist

Equipment

  • Microwave-safe bowl
  • Fork or spoon for dipping
  • Parchment paper or wax paper
  • Baking sheet or tray
  • Small bowls for toppings (optional)

Method

  1. Prepare Strawberries: Wash the strawberries thoroughly and pat them dry with paper towels. It’s essential to remove any moisture to ensure the chocolate sticks well.
  2. Melt the Chocolate: Break the chocolate into small pieces and place it in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 20-30 second intervals, stirring between each interval, until fully melted and smooth.
  3. Dip the Strawberries: Hold each strawberry by the stem and dip it into the melted chocolate. Gently twist to coat evenly, then remove and let any excess chocolate drip off.
  4. Add Toppings: If you’re adding toppings, quickly sprinkle them onto the chocolate before it hardens. You can use crushed nuts, sprinkles, or any of the other suggested toppings.
  5. Set the Chocolate: Place the dipped strawberries onto a baking sheet lined with parchment or wax paper. Allow the chocolate to set at room temperature for about 15-30 minutes. If you’re in a hurry, you can also place the tray in the fridge for 10-15 minutes.
  6. Serve: Once the chocolate is set, your strawberries are ready to be served! Arrange them in a decorative box or gift basket for a beautiful presentation.

Notes

  • Storage: Store any leftover chocolate-dipped strawberries in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2-3 days.
  • Customization: Feel free to experiment with different types of chocolate (dark, milk, or white chocolate) and various toppings to suit your mom's taste.
  • Toppings Tip: You can also drizzle a contrasting chocolate over the dipped strawberries for an extra artistic touch.
  • Optional Garnish: For a fun touch, you can add a small edible flower or a dusting of cocoa powder for a more sophisticated look.
