Ingredients
  

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup butter softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup milk or as needed

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  3. Add the softened butter and mix it in until the texture resembles coarse crumbs (using your fingers or a pastry cutter).
  4. In a separate bowl, beat the egg and vanilla extract together. Gradually add this mixture to the dry ingredients and stir.
  5. Slowly add the milk a little at a time, mixing until the dough is soft but not sticky.
  6. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead it a few times.
  7. Roll the dough out to about ½ inch thickness and cut into rounds with a biscuit cutter or glass.
  8. Place the buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the buns are golden brown on top.
  10. Remove from the oven and allow them to cool slightly before serving.
